This song began as an original composition I wrote many years ago. After setting it aside for a long time, I decided to resurrect and rework it, bringing a fresh perspective to the music while staying true to the spirit of the original.

As the song came back to life, I realized that Abby Solves’ voice was exactly what it needed. Her interpretation brings a warmth, sensitivity, and individuality that give the song a new dimension.

When Abby sings her own compositions, her vocal approach is distinctly her own. On this song, however, she brings herself into the music while also responding to the character, melody, and phrasing of my composition. I find that difference fascinating, because it reveals another side of her artistry.

I wouldn’t describe the song as jazz, but Abby’s delivery carries a definite jazz influence—something I believe is due, in part, to the years she has spent studying voice with me. Her musical instincts and phrasing bring something special to the composition.

I would describe the result as jazz-influenced contemporary—a meeting of an older composition and a young artist’s fresh, distinctive voice.

I’m very pleased to have given this song a new life with Abby.
