"Nancy Kelly's tribute to Mark Murphy is a wonderful remembrance and dedication to one of the jazz world's greatest vocalists. Each track brings something new to the table. It's a heartfelt effort that I was proud to be a part of, having known and toured with Mark, and played on a couple of his albums". —Randy Brecker
Kelly’s vocal skills are varied and highly honed. Her sense of phrasing is particularly arresting. She can extend a note to the breaking point, delighting in the tension while toying with her impeccably employed vibrato. Histrionics have no place in the singer’s stylistic inventory. She keeps her cool even when a slow-burn sensuality insinuates its presence. Kelly explores the nuances of lyrics as intently as a jeweler inspects a world-class gemstone. Read More
"Remembering Mark Murphy is a spectacular recording !
Kelly shows the kind of individuality that was the hallmark of Murphy’s performances." - Joe Lang, Jersey Jazz
Favorite gems include two tracks for which Murphy penned lyrics: “”Song for the Geese” and Oliver Nelson’s “Stolen Moments. This beauty stands out for its homage to Murphy, and for Kelly’s beautiful updates with her talented band.
Gary Walker, WBGO Music Director - NYC market:
"THANK YOU Nancy for making such a hip record.
It's a pleasure to share with the audience."

If there must be a star of stars here, it’s Kelly, whose straight-ahead style is free of the contrived wispiness and vocal affectations one might find in lesser talents. Kelly is the type of vocalist instrumentalists love to work with because she works like they do: she’s adept at playing with them and playing off of them. Most importantly, she’s always dead center when it comes to hitting the emotional tenor of the tune. read more
